There are many sites but the beach offers Hilo unparalleled beauty and one of the famous beach fronts of the area includes the Richardson Beach which offers great swimming as well as snorkeling and is situated on the residential road with a dead end that can be reached one block from the last house. There is an unobstructed view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean that can be indulged in from in front of the road. There are no houses between the park and picnic area and this is perhaps the most quiet and serene place in the region of Hilo.

The other beach fronts that form part of the region of Hilo include the Onekahakaha Beach which is located down the street from Richardson's Beach. This Onekahakaha beach has a boulder enclosed swimming area and is safe for the swimming of children as they can be left on their own without the fear of getting hurt. The pool has white sand lining its bottom and there are no waves thus the swim is extremely light as compared to the open harsh ocean.

There are many other beaches that are present in Hilo and these along with the rest of the attractions add to the beauty of Hilo. The most delightful site in Hilo is the Hilo Bay which has a breathtaking view of the ocean and the clear blue waters of the Pacific can be looked upon from hours from the shore.
